Composing Experiences: My Journey from Music to Marketing

I grew up in a home full of music, stories, and imagination. My mom, an Indian classical and folk singer, and my dad, a writer and theatre artist, ensured our house was never quiet. There were always songs, plays, and poems filling the air. From a young age, I realized I didn’t just want to showcase talent; I wanted to create experiences. That idea stuck with me, and eventually it led me to marketing.

I picked up the guitar right after school and never looked back. By college, I composed, wrote, and taught myself music production. By the time I started my first job, I was already producing my own songs. 2016 I formed my first band, and in 2017, I launched a solo project. Since then, I’ve enjoyed performing at music festivals across India and releasing a full-length album, an EP, and multiple singles.

Making music videos for YouTube opened up a whole new world. Suddenly, I was diving into cinematography, scriptwriting, and content creation. That’s when I realized storytelling and creating experiences weren’t just for music — they’re also at the heart of marketing.

In 2025, I started my podcast, Outlook with Abhilash. It’s a space where I sit down with artists, athletes, fitness experts, journalists, and more to explore their journeys and insights. With 25 episodes out so far, I’m excited to take it even further — producing in both Hindi and English and reaching a wider audience.

For me, every project — whether a song, a video, or a podcast episode — is about crafting meaningful experiences. That same creativity drives my work at Mastek, shaping campaigns, stories, and strategies that leave a lasting impact on clients, colleagues, and communities.
