The proverb ‘may you live in interesting times’ must feel more profound than ever before. As socio-political change reverberates globally, we are in the midst of witnessing major global transformations.
While the world is getting increasingly polarized, technology continues to honour the individual, our diversities and differences. For Mastek, this means increasing opportunities to support our customers in handling their own customers with greater insight, sensitivity to their needs and aspirations, as well as high levels of responsiveness and service.
Charlie Munger responded to a question on macroeconomics at Berkshire Hathaway’s 2016 AGM saying, "Microeconomics is what we do, and macroeconomics is what we put up with." Brexit happened just a few weeks after – a macroeconomic reality that we all have to accept and move forward on. In this issue of iMpetus, we look at the impact of Brexit from a technology perspective.
“The ultimate winners are willing to take the ultimate risks.” The recently concluded London Marathon brought to my mind this quote by Brooks Johnson, the American sprinter and track coach. While the will to win is important, it is equally essential to run with purpose where the motivation should stem from a desire for the greater good. Running the marathon to fundraise for a charity close to one’s heart is one way to do this.
In the recent months we’ve seen a lot happening at Mastek. Our Enterprise Agile offering has catapulted us to the top of the G Cloud Lot 4. We are the No. 1 supplier for this service, which is trusted by several UK public sector departments.
The long, summer days ahead provide opportunities to revive ourselves, as also to review progress. We have made significant investments in our organisational focus of delivering Agile processes including leaner structures, empowered teams and faster decision-making – all with the intent of delivering faster and enhanced value to our customers.
Cricket fever seems to have swept over a quarter of the world’s population. The fourth-largest sporting event in the world, the ICC Cricket World Cup is fast drawing to its final round in Australia. Equally at Mastek, we’ve had a truly exciting start to 2015. To begin with, our International Customer Meet in Jaipur achieved a record high in terms of attendance from US and UK customers. We were both humbled and proud at the joy experienced by two of our public sector clients at the uneventful ‘go-live’ of their major systems.
The close of 2014 is a time of reflection for most of us. For me, it was a year of planting many seeds at Mastek and delighting in watching most of them sprout to life. We’ve made investments in expanding our footprint across the UK central government, insurance, retail and financial services.
