I have never been formally trained in dance. I don’t count beats, I don’t follow techniques, and I’ve never called myself a dancer. But if there is one thing I know with absolute certainty, it is this: dance lives in my heart.

The moment music starts, something inside me shifts. I feel lighter, fresher, energised—almost as if the fatigue of the day quietly steps aside. It doesn’t matter if I’m tired, unwell, emotionally low, or mentally drained. When I dance, I don’t need motivation or encouragement. I can go on endlessly, fuelled by nothing but pure joy. Dance has this rare power over me—it lifts me when I need it the most.

My relationship with dance began early, somewhere around the age of eleven or twelve. Growing up in my colony, Ganpati festivals were not just celebrations; they were my first stage. Amidst the beats, colours, and collective joy, I found freedom. I didn’t know it then, but those moments planted something permanent inside me.

As life moved forward, dance moved with me. In school, annual functions became my next platform. I looked forward to them, not for applause or recognition, but for the feeling of being alive while performing. Engineering college brought inter-college competitions—bigger stages, louder music, and wider audiences. Yet the feeling remained unchanged: dance made me feel like myself.

When I entered corporate life, responsibilities increased, routines became structured, and time felt scarce. But dance still found its way in. I remember performing at the graduate dance event and later on stage at the Mastek annual event—where I was fortunate enough to win as well. These weren’t just performances; they were reminders. Reminders that no matter how life evolves, some passions refuse to be left behind.

Passion has a unique role in life. It grounds you when things feel heavy, energises you when motivation fades, and gives you a sense of identity beyond roles and responsibilities.

One beautiful thing dance has gifted me is connection. I’ve noticed that I naturally bond with people who share this passion. There’s an unspoken understanding between those who dance—not about skill, but about feeling. It’s about sharing energy, expression, and joy without needing words. Dance brings people together in the most genuine way.

Today, dance continues to evolve with me. I’ve embraced dance fitness, hitting the floor three to four times a week. It’s fun, liberating, and incredibly energising. At different stages of my life, dance has taken different forms—but its role has remained constant. It keeps me going. It lifts me when I’m blue. It restores my balance.

Dance isn’t something I do. Dance is something I am.

It symbolises my energy, my resilience, my joy, and my authenticity. From childhood celebrations to corporate stages, from emotional lows to moments of celebration—dance has been my constant companion. And it will always be a part of me.
